South Coast trip

The first time we made a south coast trip was with Ram’s colleagues and their family. Next time we drove with my parents. We carried lunch and snacks for the trip as none of us were fond of Mauritian restaurants. Ya, if planning for a drive make sure to carry a map as there is no proper sign boards and the localites are of little help.

Our first stop was Rochester falls. My parents didnt even bother coming out of the car as they didnt even consider it as a waterfall😦

Being from Kerala (God’s own country) Mauritius is not very appealing!!

We then drove to Souillac. At the southern end of Souillac is Gris-Gris, a viewpoint on the clifftop. In Souillac you will find several high cliffs which drop abruptly to the sea. The blue ocean crashing against the high rocks and forming high fountains is breath-taking!!

During our first trip we had been to a viewpoint, Pont Naturel (natural bridge). Unfortunately it wasn’t marked in the map. So we set out looking for it and first reached Le Souffleur. We had our lunch from there😉

Thanks to Ram’s memory and sense of directions, we managed to find Pont Naturel🙂

Then we visited Blue Bay beach and our last stop was at Mahebourg. Being a weekend both locations were crowded. During our first trip to Blue Bay we had been on a Glass-Bottom boat ride to see the coral reefs. Its worth the trip. But you can find such trips in almost all beaches in Mauritius.
