In Hinduism, auspicious things begin with the chanting of Ganesha mantras.
Ganesh Chathurthi or Ganesha Jayanthi is believed to be the birthday of Lord Ganesha.
I have heard different variations to the story related to Lord Ganesha’s birth. Most popular one being, Goddess Parvathy creating Ganesha out of the turmeric paste applied on her body and giving life to it.
Another main story revolving around Chathurthi is of the moon being cursed for teasing Lord Ganesha. I remember one of my friends mentioning not to look at the moon on this day as the moon is cursed. The person looking at he moon on this day will have to face false allegations. Now I have heard that reading or listening of Syamanthakhopaakhyanam from Srimad Bhagavatham pleases Lord Ganesha and helps restore the curse. In this story Lord Krishna had to face a false allegation. So I guess in my next blog I will narrate that story.
Now speaking about Lord Ganesha, im not sure if u guys had come across the incident that happened a decade back actually of Lord Ganesha drinking milk !!
On this ocassion of Ganesh Chathurthi, I would like to share a few Ganesha Mantras, my mother-in-law had shared with me.
